UAD Holds Orientation for International Students 2021
UAD yearly accepts international students from various programs such as student exchanges from partner Universities under 2 + 2 (joint degree) programs, 3+1programs, various scholarship programs from the Indonesian government, scholarship programs from Muhammadiyah, and self-funded regular programs. Although the Covid-19 pandemic has lasted almost two years, UAD still continues to accept international students. The learning process is carried out online.
On Monday 18 September 2021, UAD officially held an annual orientation ceremony to welcome international students to study online. This event aims to introduce UAD, Indonesian culture, and Islamic teaching, the rights and obligations of international students while studying at UAD, the immigration process, introduce the academic process at UAD, and strengthen student relationships with teachers, and staff at UAD.
85 new international students are accepted to study at UAD 2021. They are; 10 students from Universiti MalaysiaTrengganu studied in the Mathematics and Mathematics Study Program; 75 students from China under the 2 + 2 and regular programs. 42 students from Guangxi University for Nationalities (GXUN) consisting of 17 students have been studying at the Indonesian language and Literature, and 25 students have been studying at the Management, 28 students from Guangxi University of Foreign Languages (GUFL) studying at the Indonesian Language and Literature, and 2 students from the Hainan College of Foreign Studies have been studying at the Indonesian Language and Literature Program, 1 student has been studying Masters in Management from China and 2 students have been studying Masters in Education through the regular program. The total number of international students increased significantly compared to the number of students in 2020.
The event was officially opened by Rusydi Umar, ST., M.T., Ph.D. (Vice-rector of Academic Affairs), Dwi Santoso, Ph.D. (Head of Ahmad Dahlan Global Engagement), and Ida Puspita, S.S, M.A.Res. (Head of International Affairs Division).
It was followed by the socialization of the rights and obligations of students while studying at UAD which was delivered by and Ida Puspita, S.S, M.A.Res. (Head of International Affairs Division), Permit Regulations by representatives from the Yogyakarta Immigration Office, and Socialization of Manners and Courtesy in Indonesia, especially at UAD, delivered by representatives from the Institute for the Development of Islamic Studies (LPSI).
Before the event was closed, Mrs. Dyah Fitriani, S.E., M.M. (Head of Management) and Intan Rawit Sapanti, S.Pd., M.A (Head of Indonesian Language and Literature) provided academic guidance and got to know the students better.
Ida Puspita, S.S, M.A.Res. (Head of Foreign Cooperation Sector) said that “We are very grateful that during the pandemic we still get the trust from our foreign universities partners, it is proved by the increasing number of international students who study online at UAD. In the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of international students increased compared to the first year of the pandemic. Hopefully, after reopening the border for international students to go to Indonesia to study offline, UAD will be able to increase the interest of foreign students to study at UAD.”
